Women's eNews has named Anna Zarkova its "Journalist of the Month."
The chief crime reporter at the Bulgarian daily newspaper, Trud, Zarkova has spent many years pushing for official accountability of crime and encouraging her countrywomen to fight for equal rights. For her efforts, she was repaid with violence. In 1998, a man attacked her with sulfuric acid, severely burning her face. He was never convicted of his crimes.
"Some might call continuing to do this job madness, and maybe it is. But standing up for the truth is also a duty, and I urge all Bulgarians to never give up on the truth," Zarkova said.
Anne Wayman writes about freelance writing for About.com. Several times a week, she answers publishing questions from readers and posts links to how-to articles. Her job leads aren't bad either.

A new Jaded Writings column has been posted. This week, I'm feeling a bit under the weather.
