Detention Officer
"The duties and responsibilities of this position include the safekeeping, custody, control and supervision of pre-trial and post-conviction inmates confined to the Charleston County Detention Center. The work involves mandatory rotating shifts, including weekends, holidays and natural disasters. There is a one-year probationary period and all Detention Officers serve at the pleasure of the Sheriff of Charleston County. In addition, all candidates must successfully complete the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy's Basic Jail course of instruction within the first year of employment. SALARY RANGE:$28,381 - $42,895."
