"Sets up and operates grinding machines such as surface, universal, carbide drill and tool and cutter grinders to sharpen tools to specifications. Sets up and operates power -driven machinery to sharpen tools; studies blueprints or follows other written or verbal instructions to achieve desired results. Selects the proper grinding wheels and attaches them to spindles. Positions and secures cutting tools to be sharpened. Positions the table or spindle to obtain a specified taper or bevel on cutting tool edges. Sets controls for rotation speed of the cutting tool and grinding wheel and for the feed rate. Measures sharpened tools to verify conformance to specifications using various measuring instruments and gauges."
