Conservation Director

"The Sitka Conservation Society, Alaska’s oldest community conservation organization, seeks a Conservation Director for their work in the protection of the Tongass Temperate Rainforest. SCS is located in Sitka, Alaska, on the beautiful outer coast of Baranof Island. The position offers the candidate an opportunity to live and work in the middle of the Tongass National Forests, the nation’s largest national forest, on a diverse range of issues at the forefront of conservation science and policy. Position responsibilities include developing and implementing conservation strategies for protecting the ecological integrity of the Tongass Temperate Rainforest, tracking and evaluating regional development proposals including timber sales and road-building, and working together with local, regional and national conservation organizations on temperate rainforest conservation issues."
