"The Macaulay Library seeks to promote a better understanding of animal behavior and diversity by providing multimedia resources for research, education and conservation. It is the world's largest archive of animal sounds and associated video. Direct all aspects of the Visual Media Collections (VMC) at the Macaulay Library, Cornell Lab of Ornithology: plan for the future growth of the VMC and its technological foundation, solicit and negotiate new contributions to the archive and supervise all VMC archival and engineering staff. Assist the Video Productions unit of the ML with planning for its future projects and development. Coordinate the development of software needed to store, catalog, annotate, visualize, analyze and distribute the ML's rich media assets. Assist the Chief ML Engineer and Curator of the Audio Collection to select, purchase, integrate and maintain the hardware necessary for ML's broader information system functions. Contribute to the coordinated planning for the growth and maintenance of these systems. Initiate or participate in activities related to fundraising, recruitment of corporate partnerships, grant writing and other sources of capital and equipment support of ML activities. Participate in relevant outreach, education, public service, lecturing, article writing and related activities as appropriate. Participate in direct research activities as proves feasible upon meeting remaining duties."
