Light Trap Runner

mosquito.jpg"The Light Trap Runner's primary functions are to collect adult mosquito samples from light traps in assigned territory. The samples will assist in confirming the location of any adult mosquito population increases, and determining if treatment is necessary. Territories will include DuPage, Lake, Freeport/Rockford, Kane, Will, McHenry and Cook counties. Applicants for this position should live in or near their assigned territory area...The responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Drive assigned route collecting mosquito samples from light traps. Check and log any malfunctions or problems with light traps. Perform a 'rough sort' of the sample cups and remove all non-mosquito samples. Count male and female mosquitoes (submit to lab for identification purposes). Collect materials for following day. Assist with the general maintenance of the traps. Light Trap Runners are required to use their own vehicle (mileage reimbursement will be provided)...This job is typically performed in an outdoor environment, which may include heavy vegetation, uneven terrain, and varying weather conditions and temperatures. Pay scale: $10/hour."
