"Safari East, a small arts in education organization, seeks a mature, experienced youth/family worker to provide drop out prevention services in special education high school in lower Manhattan. Responsibilities include: 1. Working with students, families and school personnel to identify and address barriers to consistent attendance. 2. Conducting home visits. 3. Attending school-based meetings and coordinating services closely with school staff. 4. Accurate, up-to-date record keeping of all services and program activities. 5. Developing attendance incentives, family involvement strategies and supporting Safari East cultural programming in the school. This position is 20 hours/week and requires availability to work during regular school hours and flexibility to conduct home visits when parents are available.
