"This staff level technical position will be responsible for providing technical support to engineering teams for ongoing projects in materials characterization, metallography, optical microscopy, SEM, EDS analysis and failure analysis areas. These projects entail the application and evaluation of advanced materials and manufacturing processes including ferrous, non-ferrous alloys and non-metallic materials such as ceramics and composites and the viability of their implementation into Department of Defense systems and components. This position will require a good understanding of metallography and failure analysis techniques for characterizing metallic and non-metallic materials and proficiency in using optical microscopes, SEM, EDS and image analysis equipment. General understanding of materials and manufacturing operations and processes is a plus. In addition, the qualified candidate will be responsible for assisting with the project work related to application of advanced materials to manufacturing and analyzing present material problems for various DoD applications. Additionally, this position will be responsible for identifying potentially promising technologies, and their application to practice, and adherence to environmental health and safety procedures in an ISO 9001, 14000 and AS 9100 environment."
