"The ASPCA's Animal Placement department is in search of an experienced, enthusiastic and dedicated Behavior Counselor who has hands-on knowledge and experience with a primary focus working with felines. Responsibilities include: Evaluate cats to determine if they meet established adoptability criteria at the ASPCA and other shelters. Assist with teaching, improving and implementing adoptability criteria. Perform limited behavioral rehabilitation when indicated. Assist, develop and implement behavioral enrichment and rehabilitation programs for animals in shelter. Educate staff, volunteers and the public about animal behavior including development of written materials and spoken presentations. Review, update and assist with developing written materials for the behavior staff (protocols, information sheets, data sheets, etc.). Support and assist with canine evaluations/treatments as needed. Offer pre- and post-adoption support services with regard to behavior and training, including telephone and e-mail and in-person consultations."
