"Living Classrooms of the National Capital Region (LC-NCR) is seeking outgoing, excited individuals to serve as Maritime Educators aboard our educational boat, Half Shell. Maritime Educators serve both as educators and as fully trained boat crew as we take youth from around the DC area on experiential, hands-on educational trips. If you like working with youth, being outside and having fun at work in a challenging but relaxed environment, this may be a perfect fit. Half Shell's programs consist mainly of day trips during the school year, and out-of-town camping expeditions down the Potomac river during the summer. Some weekends and evenings required. Educational/Boating experience are both plusses, but are not required. What is required is a sincere desire to teach and interact with local youth, especially at-risk youth, and to help expose them to new experiences and excite them about learning. This position is seasonal, and runs from the beginning of March until the end of November...Salary: $22,500/year plus medical, dental and life insurance."
