Insect Discovery Lab Education Specialist

bug.jpg"Insect Discovery Lab Education Specialist delivers presentations of the Insect Discovery Lab educational outreach program to schools, service organizations and the general public in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area. Generates, coordinates and expands new client base for the program. The position requires an energetic, self-motivated and organized individual who has a professional interest in linking live hands-on learning with the conservation of biodiversity. Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in education, biological sciences from an accredited college or university is preferred. Public speaking experience and ability to communicate animal/conservation facts in a lively, entertaining manner to a diverse audience (i.e. age, race, culture). Good overall knowledge of natural history of invertebrates strongly preferred. Capable of being trained to handle live program animals. Strong oral and written communication skills required with an ability to work well with staff and volunteers. Valid CA driver's license with proven safe driving record. Travel around the Bay Area required, must have vehicle for this position. Ideally the candidate resides in San Francisco...Compensation: Part-time: 12+ hours a week. Salary is $12.50/hour to start."
