Women's Advocate
"The Women's Crisis Center is a feminist, non-hierarchical organization committed to social change through advocacy and grassroots activism. Our work involves passion and unity of purpose toward offering shelter, a 24-hour crisis line, support and advocacy to battered and/or sexually assaulted women and their children. We also actively challenge the systems that serve to maintain power and control over women and children and, therefore, we do not look to those systems for validation of our work. We are looking for an energetic woman who is not afraid to mop the floor, sit with a woman through a pelvic exam, assist with safety planning or advocate to a police officer, sometimes all in the same day. Our unique work requires everyone's best thinking, empathy and determination. You will be challenged and supported to act effectively on behalf of raped, sexually assaulted and battered women...Salary: $33,500+."
