Game Designer

"WildTangent is looking for a few key people to lead some of our enthusiast offerings and we have an opening for a talented and experienced Game Designer looking to try something a little more innovative. What we have to offer is a great working environment, sane hours, great benefits and tons of ownership. What we need from you is clean slate thinking about how games for our audience should be designed, which is often different from the paths many hardcore games go down. You have to be able to distill out what makes successful games great, and yet not be shackled by me-too design emulation. We'll grill you on this point for sure! Take pride in leading a team to deliver upon your vision, but be the first to roll up your sleeves and dig into the numbers when it comes time for balancing. Everyone wears multiple hats here; we wouldn't want it any other way and we're looking as much for personality fit as we are for raw talent. Egos are checked at the door. Minimum bar for entry: Game Design/Director Credit on at least 1 shipped console or PC RPG or RTS. Multiplayer experience a plus."

Beekeeper's Assistant

bees.jpg"I am a beekeeper and this year I have started selling my honey, pollen, royal jelly, propolis, candles and soap at some farmers markets in Manhattan. I am currently looking for an enthusiastic individual or two who might be interested in working hard on their feet for low pay. If you would enjoy, for instance, hearing a beekeeper make the same tired jokes for hours on end, explaining 1,000 times a day why local pollen is so healthy to consume, and have a fascination with putting drops of honey on the end of tasting spoons, this might be just the job for you. If you enjoy working in close quarters with a moody fellow and a glass-enclosed container of 8,000 stinging flying insects, this could be your dream job...I prefer someone who can speak more than one language and who is not shy, can lure in people to try my sweet, sweet nectar of the Gods and who will be able to bring enlightenment and joy to the hearts and taste buds of those passers-by who though initially declare 'I don't like honey,' leave the stand not only knowing more about bees and appreciating their efforts and contributions, but who are also weighed down with their bulk purchases...Hours will be, loosely, from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., perhaps a bit more or less. I will start you at $8/hour cash or if you prefer, $10/hour by check. I do not know which way works out better for you, but if it is the latter option, I will issue you a 1099 at the end of the season. You will also receive free honey. Local, pure, organic, wonderful, Andrew's Local Honey, from my farm just 40 or so short miles from the City. Applicants could be club-footed or sure-footed, but with a pleasant disposition to counter my moodiness would be ideal. Male or female (or other, since, this is NYC). Young or old. Again, if you speak a language other than English I am immediately more interested in hiring you."
