Literacy Facilitator

books.jpg"The Weinig Foundation seeks a literacy facilitator to work with its vice-president developing and presenting its innovative teaching program called 'Read a Recipe for Literacy.' This is a p/t position starting in July 2008. The literacy facilitator will assist the program director prepare for and present weekly sessions of the Read a Recipe program. These sessions will meet in (West/North) Palm Beach, Florida, in the afternoon, 2:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m., at two beta-sites for the program. The facilitator will present planned activities to the 3rd-5th grade children attending the program at each site. The facilitator should be someone who thinks outside the box, likes working with children and is dedicated to furthering their reading and writing skills. Pay commensurate with experience."

Field/Wilderness Instructor

pineforest.jpg"Instructors for this course are expected to work Monday through Friday in a wilderness camp setting from September through early December, and occasional weekends. Training will be mandatory and paid and will begin August 21st, 2008. Instructors should have a commitment to working with urban youth and improving public education. Instructors should have skills that enable them to: Lead short backpacking trips and facilitate challenge course activities. Sequence activities that are appropriate for the group based on an assessment of group skills, abilities, development stage, goals, program objectives and social cultural needs. Recognize the inherent risks involved in each activity and continually assess and adjust programming accordingly. Understand and recognize common group dynamics. Apply knowledge of learning styles to instruction with participants. Provide appropriate opportunities for participants to identify and reflect upon their experiences. Provide opportunities for assessment of goals and identified outcomes. Facilitate a learning environment that incorporates emotional, physical, social and cultural domains of safety. Facilitate and mediate conflicts and other difficulties that may arise with individuals and/or the group during the program. Practice all national and local operating procedures and conduct activities according to the policies, procedures and practices that guide the program plan."

The City of New York has conducted a master planning process for Fresh Kills Landfill that resulted in an illustrative park plan, also known as the Draft Master Plan. While nearly 45 percent of the site was used for landfill operations, the remainder of the site is composed of wetlands, open waterways, and unfilled lowland areas. Mountain Services Supervisor

Primary responsibilities include assisting in the recruiting, hiring and training of lift operations personnel. This position will manage staff in the absence of the Mountain Services Manager. Additional responsibilities will include providing daily staff scheduling and assignments and assisting with weekly staff meetings and our workplace safety program.
